Throughout the Lenten Season, a member from our church will be writing a weekly meditation. This is included in the bulletin as an insert. So that we can share these writings with the larger internet community, they will be posted here every Sunday afternoon. Please share these guest blog posts with your friends and family members and join us in our journey toward the Cross. This week's meditation was written by Chris Rustin.
From the beginning of this season leading up to Easter, the lyrics of this song have played in my mind and heart.
From the beginning of this season leading up to Easter, the lyrics of this song have played in my mind and heart.
"They all walked away, nothing to say, they had just lost their dearest friend.
All He had said, now He was dead, so this is the way it would end.
The dreams they had dreamed were not what they seemed,
Now that He was dead and gone.
The garden, the jail, the hammer, the nails; how could a night be so long?
Then came the morning, shadows vanished before the sun.
Death had lost and Life had won,
For the Morning had come."

Not only does this remind me of the lonely journey our Lord had to endure; it also brings to mind all the people around us who are suffering daily in the darkness and despair of their lives. Some cannot see or understand that Morning is coming because they do not know about the resurrection, the love, and the grace Easter morning brings with it. My prayer is that we be ever mindful of the hurting and lonely people around us; that we take the time to share that because of Jesus' death and resurrection there is no more darkness, no more death, just new life! There is no better season than Easter to make this a priority in our daily lives.
