Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I come to the Oaks Baptist Church?
The Oaks Baptist proclaims a message of  grace, love and hope not only for Toombs County, but for Southeast Georgia. You should experience our worship and community to see what church can really be like.

When are your worship services?
Sunday morning service begins at 10:55 a.m. For more detailed information on worship times and special events/ activities, please visit our Worship and News & Events pages.

What is the worship style?
We are a traditional Baptist church. Worship includes the singing of hymns accompanied by both the piano and organ, as well as a choral anthem. We believe that uniting around a traditional worship service brings harmony to who we are and who we serve.

What is your theological stance?
We believe God is supremely known through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of the church. We want  all people to worship with us. We believe that through Jesus Christ, men and women are called of God not only to the ministry, but in service to our church. We ordain women, trusting that we are following God's plan for who God wants us to be. Furthermore, we cling to the historical Baptist principles of Religious Liberty, Soul Freedom, and Local Church Autonomy.

Do you have activities for children?
Our children's program (birth to 5th grade) offers rich Bible study in a fun and safe environment staffed by qualified volunteers. There are several Sunday school classes taught by competent teachers in an age-appropriate setting. For children birth through 2nd grade, we offer Children's Church held during the Sunday morning worship service at 10:55 a.m.  All nursery room volunteers have passed a comprehensive background check.

Do you have activities, other than Sunday school, for youth?
In addition to the normal Sunday school hour, the youth program offers many more activities. Students 6th to 12th grade go on a variety of trips to grow in faith and in community. Youth regularly lead the church in worship and participate in community activities to benefit our county. Each Sunday and Wednesday nights, the youth meet for a time of Bible study, prayer, music and fun.

How do I join The Oaks Baptist Church?
You can join in several ways. You may profess your faith in Jesus Christ. You may join by transfer of a letter from another Baptist church or by statement from another denomination.
