Dr. Brad Green
I was born in Bee Branch, a small town in North-Central Arkansas, raised in a Christian home and accepted Christ when I was seven years old. As a young man, I felt called into music ministry. In fact, my first music ministry position was directing music at my home church, South Side Baptist, where I was ordained. After studying music composition at Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, I moved to San Antonio, Texas to lead the student music ministry at Castle Hills First Baptist Church.
In 1997 I moved to Fort Worth, Texas to complete a Master of Church Music degree at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. While a seminary student, I served as music minister at Burton Hill Baptist Church. I graduated in 2000 and married my lovely wife, Lucy, in August of 2002. After seminary, I served in various churches while teaching public school for the Fort Worth Independent School District. As an elementary music teacher, I began composing and writing for school and church groups, as well as integrating music education ideas into my music ministry approach.
In 2010, we moved to Statesboro, Georgia to teach for Georgia Southern University, where I am an adjunct professor of music education and my wife is an assistant professor of instructional technology. We are the proud parents of six-year old, Maggie and Brownie, the Infamous Chocolate Lab.
I was called as the music minister of The Oaks Baptist Church in the summer of 2011 and have enjoyed worshiping with my church family. My favorite Bible verse is: “Trust the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him and he will direct your path” Proverbs 3:5-6.
